The Port welcomes some 250 ships each year in all seasons for a total cargo volume of over 2.5 million tonnes. Its modern terminals facilitate the handling of a variety of products including grain, alumina and other solid bulk and liquid bulk, pulp and paper, aluminium and steel. Handling activities at the Port of Trois-Rivières generate significant regional, provincial and national economic spin-offs through hundreds of direct and indirect jobs. Short-sea shipping initiatives, such as those developed and realized in 2005, will become an important sector for the Port of Trois-Rivières in the coming years.
